With the crushing rock aggregates of limestone at Shuibuya project as the parent material, we prepared three groups of specimens with varied compactness by sieving test and compaction test. Through permeability deformation test, we investigated the effect of permeability on the loss of fine particles in the gravel soil and the permeability-induced deformation. By large scale triaxial test, we obtained the changes in strength and deformation parameters of gravel soil before and after extreme permeability action. Furthermore, we embedded the hypoplastic constitutive model into ABAQUS software to describe the stress-strain relationship of gravel soil before and after particle loss and calculated the settlement deformation before and after particle loss. The results can be used as reference for the engineering design for embankment foundation and calculation for permeability deformation. %U http://ckyyb.crsri.cn/EN/10.11988/ckyyb.20200297
