The mechanics behavior of preloading filling spiral case in pumped storage unit and the contact force transmission between steel spiral case and its surrounding concrete are considered. The calculation result is compared with finite element calculation result and measured data. Result reveals that the calculation results of contact element model is consistent with measured data and accords with engineering practice. The real mechanics behavior of the spiral case composite structure is revealed effectively and the appropriateness of contact element model is verified. In addition, it provides reliable scientific foundation for the optimization design of spiral case structure. %U http://ckyyb.crsri.cn/EN/10.3969/j.issn.1001-5485.2015.07.020
