%X Most of the current simulation on concrete dam construction is based on the assumption that the construction period is mainly controlled by concrete mixing and transportation instead of by concrete placement surface construction. By establishing a model which simulates the flat placement surface construction, we analyzed the construction progress of roller compacted concrete dam with flat-spread technique in the presence of  different placement surfaces. We demonstrated that the placement technique also has large influence on the construction progress. This model more truly reflects the concrete placement for roller compacted concrete dams.
