Cracks inevitably develop in the beams. According to the wide joint construction scheme,nonlinear finite element method and sub-model technique are adopted to analyze the crack distribution and development and to calculate the width of crack under the worst condition. The wide joint construction process is simulated in the sequence of simple support before clamp support in one end of crossbeam. Sliding contact between crossbeams and brackets before wide joint backfilling is also considered in the model. Optimization measures are put forward such as the layout of steel bars and arrangement of construction joint.
