Results show that regulation project keeps the terrain stable on the whole, and improves the flood control and navigation conditions. Nevertheless, part of the swales and transition segment are not under complete control, with fluctuating split ratio of branching channel, unstable location of dredged channel, and local collapses and retreats of bankline. Subsequent regulation considerations are put forward as follows: protection of the front low shoal of newly-silted sandbar, maintenance and reinforcement of the spur dike on the upside shoal of the right bank, bank protection of Xiafuliang sandbar on the left bank, dredging of the shallow region of local navigation obstruction at the outlet of left trough. This research will provide scientific basis for regulation and project design. %U http://ckyyb.crsri.cn/EN/10.3969/j.issn.1001-5485.2012.07.001
