Application of 3D Collaborative Design in Hydroprojects

Abstract: Hydropower projects are generally large-scale involving multiple professions and complex technologies. Continuous repeated coordination, modification and data transformation are needed among different disciplines, posing higher requirements for the design. Three-dimensional survey and design technology has huge advantage. We introduced the framework and decomposition of three-dimensional design for hydropower project, and described the technical route, design ideas and collaborative workflow between designers and proofreaders, skeleton associated drive technology and knowledge template. With a hydropower project as an illustration, we discussed the whole process of 3D collaborative design, including software platform selection, design ideas, mapping, geological, and hydraulic design, calculation and analysis, engineering graphics as well as animation. Practice shows that the 3D survey and design technology could improve design efficiency, design accuracy and performance results with strong practical value and application prospect.
